Hello, my name is Mikayla,
I’ve been with CocoMutt since April of 2021 and a Certified Canine Specialist (Dog Trainer) since September of 2021.
I’ve always have had a big passion for dogs since I was a little girl and I’m happy I get the opportunity to come into work every single day and experience the hard work it comes with it. Having the opportunity to have connections and relationships with our customers and seeing the excited dogs ready to play, absolutely makes my day.
I never understood the phrase “If you love what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” until I started working at the facility. I live by that quote.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself!!
I’ve lived in the Hat all my life. I’m a very active person, whenever I get the opportunity, I like to travel in my SUV and see the world with my amazing mom. Getting out of the city and being in the mountains is my calling for sure. I would say all my life I’ve been a determined person and I always strive to be better and excel whatever I’m passionate about.
I own a four-year-old American Chocolate Labrador Retriever named Keeva. She’s been exposed to Dock Diving, Rally Obedience, Agility and Retrieving Land Game and Waterfowl. I know this topic maybe controversial for some people however this is what the Labrador was bred to do. It has been her passion and has been a natural at retrieving since the day I brought her home at seven and a half weeks old.
Whenever I have a client, I bring her with me to assist as a demo dog. With her relaxed energy she really helps reactive/excited dogs while learning how to properly walk on the leash.
I also own a German Shepherd Mix Puppy named Oakley that will be assisting during training as well, she has some big paws to fill into, but it won’t take long for her walking into Keeva’s footsteps and helping other dogs out as well.
NOW LET’S DISCUSS DOGS AND WHAT I DO!!!
I have been accepting clients for in home visits. Where I come to individual’s homes for a one-on-one free consultation for any issues your dog may have, and afterwards we plan days that work for the owner to start training sessions.
I was one of the volunteer dog trainers at Gas City Dog Club I’ve taught Large Breeds /Small Breeds/Puppy Classes as well as Agility and Rally Obedience classes they offer there.
Over the past little while I’ve been helping dogs with reactive issues as well. All Different AGES and BREEDS. I love the challenge, that’s what makes me thrive to be better in what I do.
The reason why I started Dog Training mainly is because after I trained Keeva. I was receiving a lot of compliments on how well behaved she is, that’s when I went to school and received my diploma.
I feel like everyone should have an amazing bond with their dog and to not give up on them. Especially with puppies it can be a bit challenging when you first bring a dog into your home or even naughty behaviours that your adolescent dog does that makes you shake your head.
Every dog is unique, they all have different personalities/ needs that need to be met.
So that’s why I’m here to help and guide anyone that feels a little stuck with their dog.
The biggest thing with me that I mention to all my clients. YOU will be the one training your dog I’m just assisting you, giving you the tools, advice, guidance along the way.
Making you and your dog more united and working as a team.
HABITS DON’T CHANGE OVERNIGHT!
Especially bad habits that have been an ongoing issue.
After the free consultation we discuss about price and the steps to take with your dog as well as homework.
If you would love to get a hold of me.
You can either email me on our CocoMutt Hut Email or give me a shout on my cell.
I can’t wait to meet you and your fur baby.
